The Common University Entrance Test CUET UG exam is helpful to a student in the following ways:
– In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95% marks in Class XII Board Examination to get admission to the University of their choice. With the introduction of the CUET (UG) exam, the stress on them for securing very high marks in the one and only Board Examination stands reduced.
– Marks given by different Boards vary widely on account of the typology of questions and the scoring pattern. These things will now get standardized under CUET (UG) exam.
– The question paper pattern in CUET (UG) exam is an objective type comprising Multiple Choice Questions and hence evaluation will be objective. In this manner, subjectivity in the evaluation of the
descriptive type of papers in the traditional Class XII exams of different Boards will not handicap the candidates in getting admission to the University of their choice.

The syllabus for the subject/domain tests of the CUET (UG) exam is based on Class XII so there is no pressure on the candidates to prepare for both exams. The effort that would be required to do well at CUET (UG) exam also helps candidates to prepare well for their Board Examinations. Thereby, would strengthen their learning.
The National Education Policy has elucidated that the entrance to Higher Education should be through Common Entrance Test at the national level so that there is a uniform standard of benchmarking of candidates.
The basic eligibility criterion for entrance into Universities remains unchanged which is that a candidate must have passed the Class XII examination from any recognized Board or equivalent. Marks in grade XII for eligibility will vary across programs and Universities. Moreover, Board examinations are achievement tests whereas CUET (UG) exam is a selection Test. Hence, the Board Exams at the Class XII level are not likely to become redundant. The basic eligibility criteria are a key factor for admission to all universities and other examinations such as JEE & NEET at the National Level. The principles for University Entrance Exams will be similar. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will work to offer a high-quality Common Aptitude Test, as well as specialized common subject exams in the sciences, humanities, languages, arts, and vocational subjects. These exams will test conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge and shall aim to eliminate the need for taking coaching for these exams. Students will be able to choose the subjects for taking the test, and each university will be able to see each student’s subject portfolio and admit students into their programs based on individual interests and talents.
In the CUET (UG) exam, a candidate may take a maximum of 09 tests in the following manner: 02 languages from Section 1A and Section 1B taken together, a maximum of 06 Domain Subjects from Section 2, and a General Test from Section 3. OR Maximum of 03 languages from Section 1A and Section 1B has been taken together, a maximum of 05 Domain Subjects from Section 2, and a General Test from Section 3.
The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) exam provides a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from North-East and rural and other remote areas, and helps establish a better connection with the Universities. It will test conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge and shall aim to eliminate the need for taking coaching for these exams.
Candidates can choose up to 9 Subjects from Section 1A and 1B (languages), Section 2 (Domain-specific Subjects), and Section 3 (General Test). He will have the flexibility to choose any one language as his medium for the test, out of the 13 specified languages.
The Counselling process is to be conducted by the respective Universities. The Universities will be preparing their respective Merit Lists for the offered programs and may follow the same practice as in earlier years to fill the seats that fall vacant due to dropouts.
It is meant for admission to UG courses of Central Universities for the academic year. However many other Institutions also may join the CUET UG exam. The list of participating Institutions is hosted on the NTA website.
NTA has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the CUET (UG) exam. The role of NTA is confined to the registration of candidates, issuing of admit cards, the conduct of exams, hosting answer keys and invite challenges, finalizing answer keys, process, and declaring results. Eligibility, reservation, admission, etc. are as per the rules and regulations of the respective Central Universities/Participating Institutions. NTA has no role in the admissions to the Participating Institutions.

Yes. A candidate who wants to get admission in any UG courses in any Central University or its affiliated colleges for the academic year must appear in CUET (UG) exam. It has been mandated that admission to UG courses of Central Universities for the academic year, will be done based on the NTA Score obtained in the CUET (UG) exam.

Section 1A – Language: There are 13 different languages. Any of these languages may be chosen. 40 questions to be attempted out of 50 in each language Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages– Factual, Literary, and Narrative, [Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary] 45 Minutes for each language
Section 1B – Languages There are 20 Languages. Any other language apart from those offered in Section 1A may be chosen. (However, a candidate may choose a maximum of three languages combining sections 1A and 1B taken together).
Section 2 – Domain 27 Domains-specific Subjects are being offered under this Section. A candidate may choose a maximum of six (06) Domains as desired by the applicable University/University. 40 Questions to be attempted out of 50 Input text can be used for MCQ Based Questions. MCQs are based on the syllabus given on the NTA website for 45 Minutes for each Domain-Specific Subject.
Section 3- General Test For any such undergraduate program/programs being offered by Universities where a General Test is being used for admission. 60 Questions to be attempted out of 75 Input text can be used for MCQ Based Questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/ mensuration/stat taught till Grade 8), Logical and Analytical Reasoning 60 Minutes

The CUET UG Syllabus has Section IA & IB: Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary, and Narrative [Literary Aptitude & Vocabulary] Section 2: As given on the NTA website. Before selecting the tests, you are advised to visit the website of the Universities where admission is sought and read carefully the details relating to courses offered, eligibility, tests that should appear, for admission to the desired course, reservation, admission policy, etc so that you have an idea which test is to be selected. Your choice of subjects/Language/General test will depend on the requirements of the desired Universities for the desired course. You can opt for any one or more of the tests as per the requirements of the university desired. Follow the steps given below:

Visit the Website(s) of the University/University and NOTE down the eligibility criteria for the Courses in which you intend to take admission (required Tests/Subjects for appearing in CUET (UG). This should be noted down for all University/ Universities and Courses where you intend to take admission.
Select the required Test/Subjects for appearing in CUET (UG) from the following: A candidate has the option to choose any Language/Domain Specific Subject/General Test or a combination thereof as may be required for admission to a specified course/s of the desired Universities while applying from following Sections:

The performing arts Test will have two parts: Part A which is compulsory will contain General questions and Part B will have Specific Questions related to the Dance/ Music Form opted for by the Candidate as per desired University. No. of questions to be attempted will remain the same combining both Parts.
All questions in various testing areas will be benchmarked at the level of Class XII only. Students having studied the Class XII Board syllabus would be able to do well in CUET (UG) exam.

No. Each time slot is a combination of tests with different durations. Each test is distinct and is not linked to the other. They are not sections of the same paper. You will not be able to move across the tests, at your convenience. Once you start a test, you have to complete the duration of the test and only thereafter you will be able to move to the next test or leave the exam hall as you desire.

There is no such provision. The number of domain subjects that a candidate should select depends on the requirements of the desired Universities for the desired courses. It depends solely on the requirements of the University for the desired course.
You can opt for Hindi in Language Test and English medium for other tests. However, please make sure that whatever selections you do, is in accordance with the requirements of the University where admission is sought, for admission to the desired course therein.
Your choice of test for CUET (UG) exam depends on the eligibility requirement of the desired University/ies where admission is sought for the desired course. Hence, go through the prospectus of the University where you want admission and find out its eligibility requirements for admission to the desired course. Once you are clear about the requirements, select the test in CUET (UG) application form.
The Candidates are NOT required to send/ submit the Confirmation Page of the Online Application Form (or any document) to NTA. Once the ‘Final Submit’ button has been clicked, the candidate’s details cannot be edited/changed. However, NTA may open the rectification/correction window, before the issuance of Admit Card. No corrections shall be allowed after the closure of the correction window and all particulars entered by the candidate would be considered final.
Such a problem occurs because of drop-in connectivity from the Banks’ server to the server on which the NTA website has been hosted. You are advised to wait for 24 hours if such a problem is faced you. In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of the fee then the transaction is canceled, and the amount will be refunded to the candidate’s account. In such cases, the candidate has to make another transaction, to confirm and complete the application process.
If it is not updated within 24 hours the Candidate may raise a query in the Query redressal system or send a mail at given address giving details of mobile number, application number, payment reference number, and proof of payment.
Any extra payment made by you will be refunded to you, after the closure of the “Correction window” after verification. In case you do not receive the refund within a reasonable time after the closure of the correction window, you may write to NTA giving details of your application number, phone number, email ID, details of amount paid, proof of payment, etc. at given address.
After submission of corrections, you cannot reopen the application and add more corrections. Please check the form thoroughly for further corrections before submission.
The amount of exam fee depends on the Category and the Slot/s you apply to. Any change in any of these two fields may attract an additional fee. Please check the Information Bulletin for the amount of fee payable by different Categories/Slots.
A maximum number of tests to be taken remains 9 only i.e. 2 Languages+6 Domain-Specific Subjects+1 General Test OR 3 Languages+5 Domain-Specific Subjects+1 General Test. For choosing any Section or/ and Subject(s) in any Section, a candidate is required to refer to the admission requirements of his/ her chosen Universities.
There is no such criterion for applying to CUET (UG) exam. However, admission in any University or Participating Institution is subject to age criteria that may be applicable as per their rules and regulations thereon.
Name of Candidate, Father’s Name, and Mother’s name is to be filled in as per Class X certificate. In the case of a single parent, the candidate has the option to fill in only one name.
Candidates are advised to fill out only one Application Form and to take utmost care while filling out the mobile number and e-mail address. Candidates are also advised to use the mobile number and email address that is accessible to them such as those of their parent/ guardian. One mobile number and email address can be used for one Application Form only. However, in the case of twins, one mobile can be used for two candidates.

You will not be able to move across the tests, at your convenience. Once you start a test, you have to complete the duration of the test and only thereafter you will be able to move to the next test or leave the exam hall as you desire.
Extra time is allowed to PwD candidates who are eligible for it, for each test separately. For a test of 45 minutes duration, the extra time permitted is 15 minutes. For a one-hour test, extra time permitted to such candidates is 20 minutes. This extra time will be allowed test-wise and not in the aggregate.
Yes. You can leave the exam hall after completion of the duration of the tests subjects in which you want to appear. It is not compulsory to appear in all the tests that you had opted for and were admitted to. However, once you start a test, you have to sit through the duration of the test.

The Tests (other than the “Language” Test) are offered in 13 languages i.e. Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. A candidate may be required to opt for one of the 13 specified languages as the medium of the paper or as the language, as per desired University’s eligibility criteria. The question paper in respect of the Domain Specific Subjects opted and the General Test, will be bi-lingual, i.e., it will be in the language opted by the candidate and in English. In case of any discrepancy in the translation, the English version shall prevail except for language tests (Section 1A & 1B). Medium is not the same as the “Language” opted as a component of the test. “Language” test is for assessing the proficiency/skills of the candidate in the Language opted by him/her and the question paper in respect of the same will be available to the candidate in the language opted by him/her only. The Question Paper of the “Language” Test will not be bi-lingual. Questions in the “Language” Test will be unique to the opted language and are not translations from English. After the exam is over, the question paper, responses of the candidates, and The provisional answer keys will be hosted on the NTA website, and challenges regarding answer keys will be invited from candidates. Candidates who appeared in the exam can challenge the answer keys by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200/- per answer key challenged, online. This online Challenge facility window will be open for a period of 2-3 days. The exact date of such a facility will be announced on the NTA website. Candidates are advised to be in touch with the NTA website for such dates. Challenges will be verified with experts and answer keys will be finalized thereafter. No individual communication regarding the outcome of challenges will be sent to the candidates who challenged the answer keys.
