National Testing Agency has decided to conduct the CUET exam at more than 554 exam centres across the country and foreign countries. The exam will be conducted at 24 foreign locations.

Aspirants can select any 2 exam cities for the exam in the CUET application, where any centre will be allocated based on the permanent and contact address of the student.

NTA has advised the aspirants to report to the exam centre 2 hours before the exam time mentioned on the admit card to avoid any delay and security check hindrances.

The exam is conducted at 24 locations outside the country. Those students living in other countries and interested in the Indian Education System can take the exam at these centres. Once you have assigned an exam centre for the CUET exam you cannot change it center. If there are some serious issues you can request the NTA to assign some other center but it is up to the agency whether they will change it.

Due to some technical issue, natural disaster, or other reasons the exam of a particular center gets cancelled, and the NTA will reschedule the exam for the affected students. The new centre will be allocated to the candidates.

Yes, the NTA can allot any exam centers based on availability irrespective of what you have selected in the application form. The agency assigns the centre as per availability and preferences.

The Full Form of CUET is Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET). The CUET exam is designed to give a single platform for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the central universities.

The Common University Entrance Test CUET UG exam is helpful to a student in the following ways:
– In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95% marks in Class XII Board Examination to get admission to the University of their choice. With the introduction of the CUET (UG) exam, the stress on them for securing very high marks in the one and only Board Examination stands reduced.
– Marks given by different Boards vary widely on account of the typology of questions and the scoring pattern. These things will now get standardized under CUET (UG) exam.
– The question paper pattern in CUET (UG) exam is an objective type comprising Multiple Choice Questions and hence evaluation will be objective. In this manner, subjectivity in the evaluation of the
descriptive type of papers in the traditional Class XII exams of different Boards will not handicap the candidates in getting admission to the University of their choice.
– CUET (UG) exam will be held in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where result processing will be done through technology with no human intervention.
– CUET (UG) exam will be based on the Class XII syllabus and hence candidates of Class XII need not prepare for it separately.
– In CUET (UG) exam, students have a wide range of options-i.e. 27 subjects, 33 Languages, and General tests to choose from. They can select the Subject/Language/General Test of their choice, as per the requirements of the University where admission is sought. They can also choose any of the 13 languages specified therein as a medium for their test.

The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) exam provides a common platform and equal opportunity across the country, especially to those students coming from rural and urban areas including candidates from the three National Boards CBSE, AICSE, and NIOS. In CUET (UG) exam, students have a wide range of options i.e., 27 subjects, 33 Languages, and General tests to choose from. They can select the Subject/Language/General Test of their choice, as per the requirements of the University where admission is sought. They can also choose any of the 13 languages specified therein as a medium for their test.

In the past, candidates had this grievance that though they scored 99% in Class XII, they could not get admission to the Universities of their choice. This was basically because of the varied typology of questions and scoring patterns across different Boards in the country. These things will now get standardized with the introduction of the CUET (UG) exam. The question paper pattern in CUET (UG) exam will be objective type comprising Multiple Choice Questions and hence evaluation will be objective. The syllabus for the subject/domain tests of the CUET (UG) exam is based on Class XII so there is no pressure on the candidates to prepare for both exams. The effort that would be required to do well at CUET (UG) exam also helps candidates to prepare well for their Board Examinations. Thereby, would strengthen their learning.

The National Education Policy has elucidated that the entrance to Higher Education should be through Common Entrance Test at the national level so that there is a uniform standard of benchmarking of candidates.

The basic eligibility criterion for entrance into Universities remains unchanged which is that a candidate must have passed the Class XII examination from any recognized Board or equivalent. Marks in grade XII for eligibility will vary across programs and Universities. Moreover, Board examinations are achievement tests whereas CUET (UG) exam is a selection Test. Hence, the  Board Exams at the Class XII level are not likely to become redundant. The basic eligibility criteria are a key factor for admission to all universities and other examinations such as JEE & NEET at the National Level. The principles for University Entrance Exams will be similar. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will work to offer a high-quality Common Aptitude Test, as well as specialized common subject exams in the sciences, humanities, languages, arts, and vocational subjects. These exams will test conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge and shall aim to eliminate the need for taking coaching for these exams. Students will be able to choose the subjects for taking the test, and each university will be able to see each student’s subject portfolio and admit students into their programs based on individual interests and talents.

In the CUET (UG) exam, a candidate may take a maximum of 09 tests in the following manner: 02 languages from Section 1A and Section 1B taken together, a maximum of 06 Domain Subjects from Section 2, and a General Test from Section 3. OR  Maximum of 03 languages from Section 1A and Section 1B has been taken together, a maximum of 05 Domain Subjects from Section 2, and a General Test from Section 3.

The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) exam provides a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from North-East and rural and other remote areas, and helps establish a better connection with the Universities. It will test conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge and shall aim to eliminate the need for taking coaching for these exams.

Candidates can choose up to 9 Subjects from Section 1A and 1B (languages), Section 2 (Domain-specific Subjects), and Section 3 (General Test). He will have the flexibility to choose any one language as his medium for the test, out of the 13 specified languages.

The Counselling process is to be conducted by the respective Universities. The Universities will be preparing their respective Merit Lists for the offered programs and may follow the same practice as in earlier years to fill the seats that fall vacant due to dropouts.

It is meant for admission to UG courses of Central Universities for the academic year. However many other Institutions also may join the CUET UG exam. The list of participating Institutions is hosted on the NTA website.

NTA has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the CUET (UG) exam. The role of NTA is confined to the registration of candidates, issuing of admit cards, the conduct of exams, hosting answer keys and invite challenges, finalizing answer keys, process, and declaring results. Eligibility, reservation, admission, etc. are as per the rules and regulations of the respective Central Universities/Participating Institutions. NTA has no role in the admissions to the Participating Institutions.

Applicants should go through the information about the course, the number of seats, eligibility, reservation, admission policy, tests in the CUET (UG) exam to which the desired courses are mapped, etc available on the website of the Universities where they want admission and ensure that they are eligible for the desired course and the test which they should take in CUET (UG) exam and apply accordingly. It is the sole responsibility of the candidates to be clear about their choices and the requirements of the Universities where they want admission and ensure that they fulfill the eligibility requirements and thereafter fill out the form correctly.

Yes. A candidate who wants to get admission in any UG courses in any Central University or its affiliated colleges for the academic year must appear in CUET (UG) exam. It has been mandated that admission to UG courses of Central Universities for the academic year, will be done based on the NTA Score obtained in the CUET (UG) exam.

The candidate has to choose the test he is required to appear in, as required for admission to the desired course in the desired University. CUET (UG) exam will consist of the following 4 Sections:

Choosing options from each Section is not mandatory. Choices should match the requirements of the desired University. The broad features of CUET (UG) are as follows:
Section 1A – Language: There are 13 different languages. Any of these languages may be chosen. 40 questions to be attempted out of 50 in each language Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages– Factual, Literary, and Narrative, [Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary] 45 Minutes for each language
Section 1B – Languages There are 20 Languages. Any other language apart from those offered in Section 1A may be chosen. (However, a candidate may choose a maximum of three languages combining sections 1A and 1B taken together).
Section 2 – Domain 27 Domains-specific Subjects are being offered under this Section. A candidate may choose a maximum of six (06) Domains as desired by the applicable University/University. 40 Questions to be attempted out of 50 Input text can be used for MCQ Based Questions. MCQs are based on the syllabus given on the NTA website for 45 Minutes for each Domain-Specific Subject.
Section 3- General Test For any such undergraduate program/programs being offered by Universities where a General Test is being used for admission. 60 Questions to be attempted out of 75 Input text can be used for MCQ Based Questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/ mensuration/stat taught till Grade 8), Logical and Analytical Reasoning 60 Minutes
Languages (13): Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu.

Section 2 offers 27 Subjects, out of which a candidate may choose a maximum of 6 Subjects.

The CUET UG Syllabus has Section IA & IB: Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary, and Narrative [Literary Aptitude & Vocabulary] Section 2: As given on the NTA website. Section 3: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration/stat taught till Grade 8), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

Before selecting the tests, you are advised to visit the website of the Universities where admission is sought and read carefully the details relating to courses offered, eligibility, tests that should appear, for admission to the desired course, reservation, admission policy, etc so that you have an idea which test is to be selected. Your choice of subjects/Language/General test will depend on the requirements of the desired Universities for the desired course. You can opt for any one or more of the tests as per the requirements of the university desired. Follow the steps given below: 
Print the List of Universities given in Appendix-1 in the Information Bulletin.
Select the Universities and Courses where you intend to take admitted. Visit the Website(s) of the University/University and NOTE down the eligibility criteria for the Courses in which you intend to take admission (required Tests/Subjects for appearing in CUET (UG). This should be noted down for all University/ Universities and Courses where you intend to take admission.
Select the required Test/Subjects for appearing in CUET (UG) from the following: A candidate has the option to choose any Language/Domain Specific Subject/General Test or a combination thereof as may be required for admission to a specified course/s of the desired Universities while applying from following Sections:
1. Section IA – 13 Languages 
2. Section IB – 20 Languages 
3. Section II – 27 Domain-Specific Subjects

It is not mandatory to choose any one or more of the tests stated above. The choice of tests would depend on the courses opted for by the candidate and the Universities where admission is sought.

For all Shastri (Undergraduate) courses being offered in Sanskrit, a candidate may choose Sanskrit as the Domain Subject from Section II. For choosing Sanskrit as Language a candidate may choose Sanskrit from Section IB which will be used for testing their Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages- Factual, Literary, and Narrative.

The performing arts Test will have two parts: Part A which is compulsory will contain General questions and Part B will have Specific Questions related to the Dance/ Music Form opted for by the Candidate as per desired University. No. of questions to be attempted will remain the same combining both Parts.

All questions in various testing areas will be benchmarked at the level of Class XII only. Students having studied the Class XII Board syllabus would be able to do well in CUET (UG) exam.

CUET (UG) exam, is meant for admission to UG courses of Central Universities for the academic year. It is scheduled to be held only once right now. 

CUET (UG) exam has been designed in consonance with NEP where students will be able to choose the subjects for taking the test and each University will be able to see each student’s individual subject scores in subjects and admit students into their programs based on their score in different subjects and languages.

Yes, for skill-based programs like Dance/ Music/ Theatre Universities may conduct the skill test.

No. Each time slot is a combination of tests with different durations. Each test is distinct and is not linked to the other. They are not sections of the same paper. You will not be able to move across the tests, at your convenience. Once you start a test, you have to complete the duration of the test and only thereafter you will be able to move to the next test or leave the exam hall as you desire.

The choice of the Slots depends on the tests that you should take which in turn depends on the requirements for the desired course in the desired Universities/Participating Institutions. You can choose Slot I or Slot II or both Slots as per your requirements.

The CUET (UG) exam is applicable to all the Boards in the Country. Hence the English language is being tested not a particular course on a particular Board. Those who have opted for elective courses have a better chance of faring well.

No. It varies with reference to the Slots that you apply for. The Slots that you apply for depend on the tests that you choose. The tests that you choose depend on the requirements of the desired Universities for the desired courses. You may opt for Slot I or Slot II or both Slots accordingly.

No, you need to use a valid and unique email address of the applicant only as all exam-related communications will be made through registered e-mail ID and/or SMS only. In addition, you will not be able to change or edit the mobile number and email address on the Application Form later as these particulars are fixed.

Section I A – Languages: There are 13 different languages namely Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia, and English.
Section I B – Languages (20): French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese being offered in this section.
In case candidates want to choose any other language apart from those offered in Section I A, they may choose from 20 languages offered in 15 under this section. A Candidate can choose a maximum of any 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB took together. Section II – Domain-Specific Subjects: There are 27 Domains being offered under this section. A candidate may choose a maximum of six (06) Domains as desired by the applicable University/University. Domain-Specific Subjects (27):

Once the ‘Final Submit’ button has been clicked, the candidate’s details cannot be edited/changed. However, NTA may open the rectification/correction window, before the issuance of Admit Card. No corrections shall be allowed after the closure of the correction window and all particulars entered by the candidate would be considered final.

Such a problem occurs because of drop-in connectivity from the Banks’ server to the server on which the NTA website has been hosted. You are advised to wait for 24 hours if such a problem is faced you.  In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of the fee then the transaction is canceled, and the amount will be refunded to the candidate’s account.  In such cases, the candidate has to make another transaction, to confirm and complete the application process.

If it is not updated within 24 hours the Candidate may raise a query in the Query redressal system or send a mail at given address giving details of mobile number, application number, payment reference number, and proof of payment.

Any extra payment made by you will be refunded to you, after the closure of the “Correction window” after verification. In case you do not receive the refund within a reasonable time after the closure of the correction window, you may write to NTA giving details of your application number, phone number, email ID, details of amount paid, proof of payment, etc. at given address.

After submission of corrections, you cannot reopen the application and add more corrections. Please check the form thoroughly for further corrections before submission.

The amount of exam fee depends on the Category and the Slot/s you apply to. Any change in any of these two fields may attract an additional fee. Please check the Information Bulletin for the amount of fee payable by different Categories/Slots.

A maximum number of tests to be taken remains 9 only i.e. 2 Languages+6 Domain-Specific Subjects+1 General Test OR 3 Languages+5 Domain-Specific Subjects+1 General Test. For choosing any Section or/ and Subject(s) in any Section, a candidate is required to refer to the admission requirements of his/ her chosen Universities.

Name of Candidate, Father’s Name, and Mother’s name is to be filled in as per Class X certificate. In the case of a single parent, the candidate has the option to fill in only one name.

Candidates are advised to fill out only one Application Form and to take utmost care while filling out the mobile number and e-mail address. No. Each time slot is a combination of tests with different durations. Each test is distinct and is not linked to the other. They are not sections of the same paper. You will not be able to move across the tests, at your convenience. Once you start a test, you have to complete the duration of the test and only thereafter you will be able to move to the next test or leave the exam hall as you desire.

Extra time is allowed to PwD candidates who are eligible for it, for each test separately. For a test of 45 minutes duration, the extra time permitted is 15 minutes. For a one-hour test, extra time permitted to such candidates is 20 minutes. This extra time will be allowed test-wise and not in the aggregate.

Yes. You can leave the exam hall after completion of the duration of the tests subjects in which you want to appear. It is not compulsory to appear in all the tests that you had opted for and were admitted to. However, once you start a test, you have to sit through the duration of the test.

At the test center, each candidate will be allotted a desk with a computer terminal and white sheets for Rough Work. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as no other material will be allowed inside the examination room. The Tests (other than the “Language” Test) are offered in 13 languages i.e. Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. A candidate may be required to opt for one of the 13 specified languages as the medium of the paper or as the language, as per desired University’s eligibility criteria. The question paper in respect of the Domain Specific Subjects opted and the General Test, will be bi-lingual, i.e., it will be in the language opted by the candidate and in English. In case of any discrepancy in the translation, the English version shall prevail except for language tests (Section 1A & 1B). Medium is not the same as the “Language” opted as a component of the test. “Language” test is for assessing the proficiency/skills of the candidate in the Language opted by him/her and the question paper in respect of the same will be available to the candidate in the language opted by him/her only. The Question Paper of the “Language” Test will not be bi-lingual. Questions in the “Language” Test will be unique to the opted language and are not translations from English. After the exam is over, the question paper, responses of the candidates, and The provisional answer keys will be hosted on the NTA website, and challenges regarding answer keys will be invited from candidates. Candidates who appeared in the exam can challenge the answer keys by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200/- per answer key challenged, online. This online Challenge facility window will be open for a period of 2-3 days. The exact date of such a facility will be announced on the NTA website. No individual communication regarding the outcome of challenges will be sent to the candidates who challenged the answer keys.
